For this project, I created an underwater scene set on a ridge, right before the fall off into the open ocean. Since we are pretty far down already, the only light sources come from the bioluminescent plants and the very, very distant surface. There is a old fashioned diving helmet stuck on a pike, as well as some air tanks scattered around the scene. In the distance, a large, damaged structure can be found. The only other signs of life are the fish swimming by. However, one thing is clear; this site is a warning.

Overall, I was heavily inspired by the art direction and message of the video game "Abzu" (2016). The graphic elements and heavily saturated colors were striking to me, so I incorporated those elements into my own artwork. As for the message, "Abzu" discusses the environmental impacts humans have on the ocean. In a similar vein, my artwork implies that the helmet on a pike and the structure in the background are related. I won't further spell out the implications of this, but I believe the intentions are clear.
